Task

Research-driven Pharma Company Janssen Deutschland asked Kontrast Communication to develop a comprehensive brochure designed to explain to HIV positive people and their relatives what exactly HIV is and how the affected body reacts to infections. The brochure´s aim is to make patients learn to understand their illness and to answer questions – always at eyelevel, in a cooperative way. The information is designed to help them living with HIV and maintaining a positive attitude towards the future.

Implementation

Kontrast Communication created an information brochure of 90 pages: empathetic texts, numerous images and clear graphics intended to make the illness easier to understand and to help to reduce fears as well as uncertainties. Patients are to see that despite their HIV diagnosis they are still able to lead a normal life – as far as possible, without constantly thinking of the illness. They are encouraged to get profound support in dealing with it.

Result

The brochure succeeded to manage the balance between medical information and emotional support – according to patients and HIV practitioners. It was positively rated as a complex, thus easy-to-understand reference book for HIV patients.
